The licence
Gate and Flow are licensed under the Business Source License 1.1. It lets you copy, modify and redistribute the software, and use it for anything other than production: evaluation, development, testing. Neither product carries an additional use grant, so running either in production needs a commercial licence from Kirto.
Each version converts to the Mozilla Public License 2.0 on its change date. From then on that version is open source, production use included, with no commercial licence needed.
| Product | Licence | Each version becomes MPL 2.0 |
|---|---|---|
| Gate | Business Source License 1.1 | 21 August 2030, or four years after a version is first published, whichever comes first |
| Flow | Business Source License 1.1 | four years after a version is first published |
What is under other licences
Gate's control packs are under the Apache License 2.0, because a pack exists to be copied into your own configuration and kept there. Gate's documentation is under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0, so it can be quoted, copied and bundled for agents with attribution.
The commercial licence
A commercial licence covers production use of the versions it names. Write to [email protected] with the product and where it would run.
Nothing in either product enforces the licence. There is no licence key, no activation and no usage report, so the licence is an agreement between us, held by contract.
